Dennis Siver Out of UFC on Fuel TV 7, Cub Swanson Now Meets Dustin Poirier

Dennis Siver has withdrawn from a co-headlining showdown with Cub Swanson at UFC on Fuel TV 7, promotion officials revealed Thursday, announcing that Dustin Poirier will now face Swanson in the German’s stead.

No reason was given for Siver’s withdrawal. UFC on Fuel TV 7 takes place Feb. 16 at Wembley Arena in London. Headlined by an interim bantamweight title showdown between Renan Barao and Michael McDonald, the evening’s main draw airs live on Fuel TV, while the preliminary card streams immediately prior on Facebook.

Poirier, 23, has won six of his last seven fights, tasting defeat just once since joining the UFC in January 2011. “The Diamond” rebounded from his hard-fought submission loss to Chan Sung Jung in May by finishing Jonathan Brookins last month at “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 16 finale. The victory earned Poirier his sixth career submission victory and his 11th overall finish in 13 professional outings.

Six years older than his opponent, Swanson went on a tear last year, earning three straight victories by way of knockout. The Jackson’s MMA rep kicked off 2012 with a second-round stoppage of George Roop and then did the same thing to Ross Pearson this past June. Most recently, Swanson stopped Charles Oliveira at UFC 152, knocking out the Brazilian prospect in 2:40 on Sept. 22.
