Dominick Reyes vs. Ryan Spann Full Fight UFC 281 Part 1
Dominick Reyes vs. Ryan Spann UFC 281 MSG New York Fight Video Replay Livestream Full HD Part 1
When Dominick Reyes met Jon Jones( 2020) on a 12-- 0 record, he had just knocked out former Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman( 2021). He really came out of nowhere, but took the light heavyweight GOAT '' five rounds with many believing that it had done enough to dethrone the King. He lost the decision and has not recovered. He went on to fight Jan Blachowicz( 2020) for the vacant title but was knocked out in the second round. Seven months later, a ferocious spinning back elbow from current champion Jiri Prochazka( 2021) was ate to drop three in succession.
He 's got another tough fight, but at least this is not another title challenger. Ryan Spann( 20-- 7) won his first four UFC fights to extend his winning streak to eight and nearly made it nine when he beat Johnny Walker( 2020) only for the Brazilian to come back and dispatch him with nasty elbows. The former LFA Light Heavyweight Champion responded with a Knockout over Misha Cirkunov( 2021), but was then submitted by Anthony Smith in 2021. He is coming off a vintage submission of his own against Ion Cutelaba in May.
It 's good to see Reyes take a break after the brutal knockouts. Here, he also has a much kinder match, although Spann possesses an incoming knockout and submission threat that Reyes has to respect.
Spann 's guillotine will be a particular threat. Reyes is a strong wrestler, but it will be risky to leave his head open when shooting, so we expect him to stick to his strengths.
It 's easy to forget that he hits like a truck. He will aim to fire kicks from his Southpaw stance to Spann 's lead left leg and then target the body. Spann will back himself in the exchanges, but we fully expect him to shoot in as soon as he absorbs a left kick or hand.
If he can drag Reyes to the mat or create a scramble, we can see a submission. However, we feel Reyes 'takedown defence and striking will put him back in the win column.
