DUBLIN – Conor McGregor won in a major way, and then celebrated just as big.
After dispatching Diego Brandao in the first round of the main event of UFC Fight Night 46 on Saturday night, McGregor grabbed his tricolor Irish flag and jumped onto the octagon to celebrate in front of his home fans.
McGregor headlined a UFC event for the first time, and got to do it in his home city of Dublin. He didn’t disappoint, living up to a promise he had made leading up to the fight that he would stop the Brazilian Brandao in the first round.
After the fight, McGregor talked about hoping the UFC will return to Dublin – and put him in the main event again, but in an outdoor stadium, where he believes he could sell tens of thousands of additional tickets than the 9,500 fans who sold out The O2.
Check out the video above of McGregor’s celebration after the TKO, which streamed on UFC Fight Pass in the United States, but aired on free TV in Ireland – with availability in a reported 99 percent of households.
