Video: Sergio Pettis discusses 'disappointing' win at UFC Fight Night 42

It’s a nice luxury when you can win a fight in the UFC and call it disappointing.

But that’s just the position Sergio Pettis (11-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was in Saturday night after his decision win over Yaotzin Meza (20-10 MMA, 1-3 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 42 in Albuquerque, N.M.

Coming off the first loss of his career, a submission setback to Alex Caceres in January, Pettis, the younger brother of UFC lightweight champ Anthony Pettis, said his win wasn’t ideal – and certainly not as flashy as some of the performances his brother has put on.

“It was a disappointing performance,” Pettis said. “Coming off a loss, it’s hard to go in there with the mindset of trying to kill the guy. You want to get that ‘W,’ and I did that tonight. I played a little safe. It’s the UFC – these guys are hard to finish.”

Hear Pettis talk about his win, if he was fighting for his job, how it is being compared to his older brother and more.
