The UFC 206 fight card underwent another major change today when headliner Anthony Pettis came in three pounds overweight for Saturday’s title fight with Max Holloway.
Pettis (19-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) wasn’t removed from the fight, but he did lose the opportunity to fight for the interim UFC featherweight belt in the pay-per-view main event at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. He was also forced to give up 20 percent of his purse to Holloway (16-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC).
Although the bout will go forward, only Holloway can win the interim 145-pound strap, adding an even greater twist to a fight that’s been marred by strange circumstances.
Check below to see how the MMA world – and Holloway himself – reacted to the changes around the UFC 206 main event.
