Thiago Alves Suspended for UFC 205 Pre-Fight Infraction | MMAWeekly.com

Thiago Alves is the second UFC 205 fighter suspended by the New York State Athletic Commission for missing weight.

Kelvin Gastelum was supposed to face Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 205 on Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden. He failed to appear at the official weigh-in, knowing he would miss weight. According to UFC president Dana White, he was nearly 10 pounds off the 171-pound mark for the welterweight bout.

The NYSAC suspended Gastelum for six months for failing to appear at the weigh-in

Thiago AlvesAlves, who did weigh-in and fought, was 6.6 pounds over the 156-pound limit for his scheduled lightweight bout with Jim Miller. Alves was fined and Miller was required to put on weight to keep their bout intact.

Miller won the fight, earning a unanimous nod from the judges, while Alves earned a suspension.

Alves was suspended for three months by the NYSAC for missing weight, according to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, who tweeted the news on Tuesday.
