Rashad Evans Rebukes Athletic Commission Health Concerns | MMAWeekly.com

Rashad Evans was recently denied a license to fight Tim Kennedy at UFC 206 in Toronto. It marked the second time in two weeks that Evans had the fight fall apart.

Evans was originally slated to make his middleweight debut against Kennedy at UFC 205 on Nov. 12 in New York. The New York State Athletic Commission denied him a license due to concerns about irregularities on his MRI. 

When the UFC 205 fight fell through, the UFC attempted to rebook the bout for Dec. 10 in Toronto. The Office of the Athletics Commission in Ontario, however, followed in the NYSAC’s footsteps.

Despite the athletic commissions’ concerns, Evans believes that he is healthy and has no plans to quit fighting.

“Despite the latest news on not getting a license to fight in Toronto, I am 100-percent healthy,” Evans said in a statement issued via Twitter. “I will not retire.”

It’s unclear how soon or in what jurisdiction that Evans might next attempt to fight, but he indicated that the UFC was helping him to get the concerns about his health cleared up with the commissions.
