The UFC’s “Thrill and Agony” videos take us up close and behind the scenes of pay-per-view events, and at UFC 205, the cameras caught a very emotional scene with Miesha Tate.
UFC 205 took place this past Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York, and it’s already one of the most successful events in company history. However, in the pay-per-view opener, the sport said goodbye to a fan favorite after Raquel Pennington (9-5 MMA, 6-2 UFC) upset former champ Tate (18-7 MMA, 5-4 UFC), who surprised many fans when she subsequently announced her retirement.
As you can see in the above video, it was an emotional decision – but one she was ready to make.
“I don’t want to fight anymore,” she told her longtime boyfriend and training partner, Bryan Caraway, before announcing the decision to the crowd. “I don’t want to do this anymore.”
Check out the full clip, which includes Chris Weidman’s crushing defeat and Conor McGregor’s two-division celebration, above.
The video is a preview of “Thrill and Agony.” UFC Fight Pass subscribers can now watch the entire episode, which eventually will make its way to YouTube.
