Floyd Mayweather: 'Never Compare Conor McGregor to Me, It's a Total Disrespect'

Floyd Mayweather: 'Never Compare Conor McGregor to Me, It's a Total Disrespect'

Floyd Mayweather doesn't like the comparisons people are making between himself and newly minted two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor. He doesn't like them one bit.

Speaking with TMZ Sports, Mayweather threw several subtle jabs McGregor's way. Check out the video here:

Mayweather is, of course, correct. While he may be comparing 10-ounce apples to four-ounce oranges, Mayweather has reinvented boxing with his success both in and out of the ring.

In 2006, heย bought out his contract with Top Rank and single-handedly transformed himself into the undisputed king of pay-per-view and the most successful pugilist in recent decades.

McGregor has done amazing things in the context of MMA, including becoming the first man to hold two UFC titles at the same time, setting the company's pay-per-view buyrate record and likely breaking it again at UFC 205.

Those accomplishments, however, are still directly tied to a single promotion, which hasn't been the case with Mayweather.

That said, this may change depending on how McGregor's next meeting with UFC brass goes, as he angles for a piece of the entire promotional pie. If he pulls it off, the comparisons between the two become a lot more legitimate.
