UFC 205 results: Conor McGregor dominates Eddie Alvarez, claims history as 2-division champ

NEW YORK – As he predicted, Conor McGregor made UFC history on Saturday at UFC 205, knocking out Eddie Alvarez to become the first fighter to hold two titles at the same time in the UFC.

McGregor (21-3 MMA, 9-1 UFC), the undisputed featherweight champ, stung Alvarez (28-5 MMA, 3-2 UFC) over and over with a straight left hand until a combination put the lightweight champ on the ground a final time at the 3:04 mark of the second frame.

The lightweight title bout was the main event of today’s UFC 205 event at Madison Square Garden in New York. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Prior to signing with the UFC in 2013, McGregor won simultaneous featherweight and lightweight titles for England’s Cage Warriors promotion.
