Donald Cerrone Reportedly Being Rebooked for UFC 206 | MMAWeekly.com

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone’s UFC 205 fight was canceled at Friday’s official weigh-in, but the UFC is moving swiftly to book him on an upcoming event.

Cerrone was slated to fight Kelvin Gastelum at Saturday’s blockbuster UFC 205: Alvarez vs. McGregor event at Madison Square Garden in New York City, but that was before the rug got pulled out from under him.

Donald Cowboy CerroneKnowing he wasn’t going to make weight, Gastelum withdrew from the fight without stepping on the scale. Cerrone weighed in at 170.4 pounds. There was no negotiation with Cerrone, so it’s likely that Gastelum was well above the 171-pound limit. He has missed the welterweight limit on two other occasions.

With that fight off the table, it appears the UFC will shift Cerrone to the Dec. 10 fight card in Toronto. FoxSports.com’s Damon Martin broke the news that Cerrone and Matt Brown verbally agreed to fight at UFC 206. Light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier headline’s the Toronto card, putting his belt on the line against Anthony Johnson.

Cerrone’s teammate, Tim Kennedy, also had his UFC 205 bout canceled earlier in the week, when the commission had concerns about Rashad Evans’ medicals.

That fight was rebooked, also for UFC 206, where Evans will again attempt to make his middleweight debut, and Kennedy will attempt to make his return to the Octagon after two years out of the cage.
