Werdum (21-6-1) lost the belt in his next fight. Current champ Stipe Miocic knocked him out in the first round of UFC 198 in May of this year. Werdum rebounded with a dominant decision win over Travis Browne at UFC 203 in September.

Ronda Rousey returns in the UFC 207 main event to challenge current women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes in the special Friday event at T-Mobile Arena.

UFC officials have yet to determine if Werdum vs. Velasquez will be the UFC 207 co-main event.
