UFC Fight Night 96 post-fight facts: No 'Fight of the Night' bonuses, but some solid scraps

UFC Fight Night 96 ended in memorable fashion when John Lineker and John Dodson put on a classic five-round scrap in the main event of the organization’s return to Portland, Ore.

It was another impressive victory for Lineker (29-7 MMA, 10-2 UFC), who despite missing weight for a UFC record fifth time, managed to outwork Dodson (18-8 MMA, 7-3 UFC) in the eyes of the judges and take a narrow split-decision win to push his UFC winning streak to six.

John Lineker

The UFC-Reebok Athlete Outfitting payout for the event totaled $115,000.

Debuting fighters went 3-1 at the event.

Brandon Moreno, Henrique da Silva, Nate Marquardt and Curtis Blaydes earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 96 fight-night bonuses.

UFC Fight Night 96 drew an announced attendance of 6,240 for a live gate of $501,035.

Betting favorites went 4-8 on the card.

Total fight time for the 12-bout card was 2:37:22.

Main card

John Lineker

Lineker improved to 10-1 in his past 11 UFC appearances. He’s earned victories in 23 of his past 25 fight overall.

Lineker missed weight for the fifth time in his UFC career, the most in company history.

Dodson fell to 1-1 since he returned to the UFC bantamweight division in April. He’s 2-1 in the weight class overall.

Dodson has suffered all eight of his career losses by decision.

Alex Oliveira and Will Brooks

Alex Oliveira (15-3-1 MMA, 5-2 UFC) has earned 12 of his 15 career victories by stoppage.

Will Brooks (18-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had his nine-fight winning streak snapped for his first defeat since February 2013.

Brooks suffered has suffered both of his career losses by knockout.

Zak Ottow

Zak Ottow (14-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has earned back-to-back victories by decision after stopping his opponent in his first 12 career wins.

Ottow earned his fourth victory of 2016.

Josh Burkman (28-14 MMA, 6-9 UFC) fell to 1-4 with one no-contest since he returned to the UFC for a second stint in January 2015.

Moreno (12-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has earned 10 of his 12 career victories by stoppage.

Moreno has earned nine of his 10 career stoppage victories by submission.

Louis Smolka (11-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Henrique da Silva (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has earned all of his career victories by stoppage.

Da Silva earned the first submission victory of his career.

Joachim Christensen (13-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Andre Fili (16-4 MMA, 4-3 UFC) has alternated wins and losses over his seven-fight UFC career.

Hacran Dias (23-5-1 MMA, 3-4 UFC) has suffered all five of his career losses by decision.

Shamil Abdurakhimov

Shamil Abdurakhimov (17-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has earned his past four victories by decision, the longest stretch of his career without a finish.

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (16-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) earned just the second decision victory of his career and first since Dec. 13, 2009 – a span of 2,484 days (nearly seven years) and 18 fights.

Keita Nakamura (32-8-2 MMA, 2-5 UFC) has suffered all five of his UFC losses by decision.

Marquardt (35-16-2 MMA, 13-9 UFC) improved to 3-3 since he returned to the UFC middleweight division in June 2014.

Marquardt’s 11 knockdowns landed in UFC middleweight competition are second most in divisional history behind Silva (13).

Tamdan McCrory (14-5 MMA, 4-5 UFC) fell to 1-2 since he returned to the UFC for a second stint in December.

McCrory fell to 3-2 since he returned to MMA competition from a five-year layoff in September 2014.

McCrory has suffered both of his losses since returning the UFC by knockout.

Ion Cutelaba

Ion Cutelaba (12-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) earned the first decision victory of his career.

Jonathan Wilson (7-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of his career.

Blaydes (6-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has earned all six of his career victories by knockout.

Cody East (12-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has suffered all three of his career losses by knockout.

Kelly Faszholz (3-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of her career.
