UFC Fight Night 89: MacDonald vs. Thompson fight card featured a lot a UFC firsts. Joanne Calderwood and Valerie Letourneau competed in the first ever UFC women’s flyweight bout, and it was the fist time the fight promotion hosted an event in Ottawa, Canada.

The 13-fight event featured submissions, decisions, and knockouts. But a few fighters rose above the rest and delivered performances that earned themselves $50,000 bonuses. Donald Cerrone, Krzysztof Jotko, Steve Bosse and Sean O’Connell took home the performanceDonald Cerrone UFC 194 media day 750-based incentives.

Fight of the Night went to the light heavyweight war of the chins between Bosse and O’Connell. Bosse was nearly knocked out twice in the fight. O’Connell spent a good amount of time on shaky ground himself. Incredibly, the fight went the distance with Bosse getting the nod from the judges.

“Cowboy” Cerrone a Performance of the Night bonus check for his dismantling to UFC veteran Patrick Cote in the fight card’s co-main event. Cerrone looked spectacular in his second fight after moving up from the lightweight division to the 170-pound weight class. He dropped Cote, who is known for his durability, several times throughout the contest, and eventually finished the Canadian in the third round by TKO.

The final bonus was awarded to Jotko for his first-round knockout of Tamdan McCrory on event’s preliminary fight card. Jot caught McCrory with a punch, and it was all over as UFC broadcaster Mike Goldberg would say.

UFC Fight Night 89: MacDonald vs. Thompson featured six decisions, four submissions, and three knockouts. The event took place at TD Place Arena in Ottawa, Canada.
