The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Sunday made its Croatian debut with one of its heaviest events ever. Five heavyweight bouts took place on the card. Two of those heavyweights were among the UFC’s $50,000 post-fight bonus winners.
Officials skipped the usual Fight of the Night award, instead handing out Performance of the Night bonuses to four individuals.

In the night’s co-main event, Derrick Lewis overcame Gabriel Gonzaga’s takedowns to land a power bomb that put Gonzaga’s lights out just before the end of the first round. The other heavyweight fighter to score a bonus was preliminary card fighter Jared Cannonier, who put a beatdown on Cyril Asker to finish the fight and secure his post-fight honor.
It wasn’t all about the big guys, however, as Mairbek Taisumov earned a post-fight bonus for his first-round TKO stoppage of Damir Hadžovic. The victory was the Chechen fighter’s fourth consecutive victory with all four coming by way of knockout or TKO.
The final honor went to Alejandro Perez, who outlasted Ian Entwistle’s endless leg submission attempts to lower the boom on him, scoring a verbal submission due to an endless barrage of strikes.
