Video: Jon Jones goes off on ABQ police officer after allegedly drag racing, given 5 tickets

Former UFC light heavyweight Jon Jones was pulled over this past Thursday and given five traffic citations, among them drag racing, exhibition driving, weaving, failing to properly display his license, and modifying his exhaust pipe, according to the Albuquerque (N.M.) Police Department.

Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC) is scheduled to rematch champion Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 197, which takes place April 23 from MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Video released by the police shows Jones in a verbal confrontation with the police officer that pulled him over near downtown Albuquerque at 11:46 p.m. During a pair of exchanges, the former UFC light heavyweight champ called the officer a “liar” and a “pig” and denied drag racing.

Jones, 28, is due in Albuquerque Metropolitan Court on April 5 at 11:25 a.m. to answer for the charges.

He was stripped of the light heavyweight title following his involvement in a hit-and-run incident this past April. His most recent trip to the octagon was his UFC 182 unanimous decision victory over Cormier in their first bout.

After his UFC suspension ended and the rematch with Cormier was booked, Jones was cited in a February traffic incident.

The UFC has not yet responded to a request for comment on the incident.
