Conor McGregor's message to Nate Diaz: We'll see the next time

Conor McGregor came up short against Nate Diaz at UFC 196, getting submitted by the Stockton, Calif. native by rear-naked choke in the second round.

The notoriously brash McGregor (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) was humble in defeat, but the Irishman wasn’t likely to stay quiet for long. With talk of a rematch – possibly at UFC 200 – heating up, he took to Instagram to send a message to Diaz (19-10 MMA, 14-8 UFC).

It was a good knock. Enjoy it. We'll see the next time.

“It was a good knock,” McGregor wrote. “Enjoy it. We’ll see the next time.”

McGregor included a photo from the fight showing one of his left hands landing to the face of a swollen and bloodied Diaz.

Diaz has expressed interest in the rumored rematch of the UFC 196 bout, which headlined the pay-per-view main card at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on March 5.

To Diaz, the best fight is the one that the most people want to see and the one that makes him the most money. Worrying about a title fight is secondary.

“It’s a real fight,” Diaz said during a recent appearance on FOX Sports 1’s ‘UFC Tonight.’ “People want to see it. When you get a real fight, people appreciate it. If he wants it and UFC wants it, let’s run it back. If not, whatever. I’m here to fight the best fighters in the world.”
