UFC Fight Night 81 medical suspensions: Champ Cruz among 6 with 180-day terms


Six fighters from this past month’s UFC Fight Night 81 event are facing medical suspensions that could stretch six months.

MMAjunkie today obtained the list of medical suspensions from the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission after filing a public-records request shortly after the event. However, citing a privacy exemption, the commission didn’t disclose the reason for each medical suspension, though the six-month suspensions traditionally can end early if a fighter gets the proper clearance from a physician.

UFC Fight Night 81 took place Jan. 17 at Boston’s TD Garden. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

Among those facing 180-day suspensions is headliner Dominick Cruz (21-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC), who dethroned T.J. Dillashaw (12-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) via narrow split decision to take the UFC bantamweight title.
