Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber have long been heated rivals, but when the UFC’s bantamweight title was on the line, it was “The Dominator” who proved victorious.
Cruz and Faber met in the main event of UFC 132, which took place in July 2011 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. It was a rematch of a 2007 affair, in which Faber scored a first-round submission, halting Cruz from claiming the WEC featherweight title. Things were different the second time around.
Check out the video above to see the high-paced affair, which scored the two fighters the evening’s “Fight of the Night” bonus.
On Jan. 17, Cruz (20-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who was stripped of his UFC bantamweight belt due to inactivity, meets current champ T.J. Dillashaw (12-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 81 at TD Garden in Boston. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. It will be the first time FOX Sports 1 has hosted a UFC title fight.
Dillashaw is ranked No. 1 in the MMAjunkie/USA TODAY Sports MMA bantamweight rankings. Cruz is No. 2.
