UFC on FOX 17 workouts: 'Cowboy' Cerrone kicks hard and fast, and we'll leave it at that

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UFC closes out its calendar year in the land of the Mouse, but there’s nothing mouse-like quiet about Saturday’s card.

UFC on FOX 17 takes place at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., with the lightweight title on the line at the top of the bill. In addition, a long-awaited heavyweight clash between a pair of former champs is set for the co-feature, and a pair of hard-charging lightweights meet before that.

Rafael dos Anjos (24-7 MMA, 13-5 UFC) puts his lightweight belt up for the first time when he meets Donald Cerrone (28-6 MMA, 15-3 UFC) in a rematch from a 2013 fight “RDA” took by unanimous decision in Indianapolis. “Cowboy” will be looking to avenge that loss – and become yet another challenger to unseat a champion in just the past month after Ronda Rousey, Chris Weidman and Jose Aldo all lost their belts.

In the co-main event, former UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos (17-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) takes on former Strikeforce titleholder Alistair Overeem (39-14 MMA, 4-3 UFC) in a fight that was supposed to take place more than three years ago.

Plus, former title challenger Nate Diaz (17-10 MMA, 12-8 UFC) returns after a year away to take on Michael Johnson (16-9 MMA, 8-5 UFC) – and both lightweights are looking for a return to the win column.

Check out the highlights from today’s workout sessions involving the six fighters at the top of Saturday’s main card, which airs on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
