USADA Suspends Gleison Tibau for Potential UFC Anti-Doping Violation

Gleison Tibau on Friday became the second fighter to be provisionally suspended for a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation under the UFC’s new policy that is being administered by the United States Anti-Doping Agency. The first UFC fighter suspended under the new policy was the recently retired Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic.

According to the UFC:

“The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has notified both Gleison Tibau and UFC that he has been provisionally suspended due to a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition test.

“USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Gleison Tibau. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time in the process.”

Tibau last fought at UFC Fight Night 77 on Nov. 7 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he submitted Abel Trujillo in the preliminary card headlining bout on FOX Sports 1. If found guilty and officially suspended, it is likely that the result of that bout would be changed to a no-contest.
