Although this is a rare non-event week for the UFC, the organization returns next week with a tripleheader, and UFC 194’s co-headliner features the middleweight division’s two best fighters.
On Dec. 12 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, middleweight champion Chris Weidman (13-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) takes on No. 2-ranked Luke Rockhold (14-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) in the pay-per-view co-main event.
It’s a significant bout for the 185-pound division; Weidman is ranked No. 1 in the NOS Energy Drink MMA middleweight rankings, and Rockhold is No. 2. They’re both also on the pound-for-pound list, with the undefeated Weidman at No. 4 and former Strikeforce champ Rockhold an honorable mention.
Weidman looks for his fourth consecutive title defense when he co-headlines UFC 194, which also features featherweight champion Jose Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) vs. interim titleholder Conor McGregor (18-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) in the main event.
