The UFC schedule keeps chugging along, and on Saturday, the organization makes its debut in South Korea. Be sure to set your alarm clocks if you want to watch this one live.
UFC Fight Night 79 takes place at Olympic Gymnastics Arena in Seoul, and the entire event streams on UFC Fight Pass.
The 11-bout card kicks off quite early; prelims begin at 5 a.m. ET (2 a.m. PT), and the four-fight main card commences at 8 a.m. ET.
The card, including the main event, has recently undergone some recent changes. The welterweight headliner features former lightweight champion Benson Henderson (22-5 MMA, 10-3 UFC) vs. Jorge Masvidal (29-9 MMA, 6-2 UFC), who recently moved up from an undercard bout to the main-event slot when Thiago Alves (21-10 MMA, 13-7 UFC) was forced off the card with a rib injury.
In the co-headliner, Dong Hyun Kim (20-3-1 MMA, 11-3 UFC) takes on fellow welterweight Dominic Waters (9-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC), who recently replaced Masvidal. Additionally, welterweight veteran Yoshihiro Akiyama (14-5 MMA, 2-4 UFC) meets Alberto Mina (11-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC).
Also, featherweights Doo Ho Choi (12-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) and Sam Sicilia (15-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) kick off the main card. That slot was originally slated for welterweight Dominique Steele (13-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC), but when he recently lost opponent Hyun Gyu Lim (13-5-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC) to an injury, ”Maestro” Dong Hyun Kim (13-6-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) – not to be confused with “Stun Gun” and co-headliner Kim – stepped in as a replacement, and the fight is now the prelim opener.
The full UFC Fight Night 79 lineup includes:
