One thing is nearly certain when Melvin Manhoef fights: You’re going to see a knockout – whether he’s on the giving or receiving end.
In Friday’s Bellator 145 headliner, which aired on Spike from WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Okla., the prolific striker was the disher, not dishee.
Manhoef (30-12-1 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) took some early damager but rebounded to score a sweet fight-ending left hook on Hisaki Kato (6-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA), which produced the first-round knockout win.
Check out the highlights, which marked his 28th knockout in 30 career victories, above.
They also include Brandon Girtz (14-4 MMA, 6-2 BMMA) building off a recent win over Melvin Guillard with a quick knockout of lightweight Derek Campos (15-6 MMA, 4-4 BMMA), Bubba Jenkins (10-2 MMA, 7-2 BMMA) edging featherweight Jordan Parsons (11-2 MMA, 2-1 BMMA), Chidi Njokuani (14-4 MMA, 1-0 BMMA) getting a controversial decision win over welterweight Ricky Rainey (11-4 MMA, 3-2 BMMA), and Guilherme Viana (7-2 MMA, 1-1 BMMA) defeating light heavyweight Houston Alexander (16-13-1 MMA, 0-3-1 BMMA) due to a cut.
