UFC 193 results: Mark Hunt finishes Antonio Silva in first in rematch of classic war

MELBOURNE, Australia – After a classic first meeting ended in a majority draw, Mark Hunt made sure to finish off Antonio Silva in the rematch.

Hunt (11-10-1 MMA, 6-4-1 UFC), a New Zealander, brought the Australian crowd to their feet when he landed a glancing shot that dropped “Bigfoot” Silva (19-8-1 MMA, 3-5-1 UFC) and finished him off on the ground.

The heavyweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC 193 event at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

It was mostly kicks to the legs and body from the big men as they opened up the fight, Hunt throwing to the legs while Silva looked to attack the body. As the two began to get comfortable in the striking exchanges and open up with punches, a left hook put Silva on his heels before a perfectly placed glancing punch to the temple and follow-up blows on the ground brought the action to a halt at the 3:41 mark of Round 1.

The win snapped a two-fight losing skid for Hunt, while Silva’s loss sent him in the wrong direction after a TKO of Soa Palelei at UFC 190.
