Don’t expect the hostility to subside when UFC light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and ex-titleholder Jon Jones finally meet again.

Cormier (17-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), who’s No. 2 in the NOS Energy Drink MMA light-heavyweight rankings, lost to No. 1-ranked and then-champ Jones in January. Their rematch now seems inevitable, and the trash-talk has recommenced.

Following Jones’ latest troubles outside the cage – namely a hit-and-run arrest that forced the UFC to strip “Bones” of the belt – Cormier went on to win the vacant title with a victory over Anthony Johnson.

So, Jones vs. Cormier II would naturally be next, right? Well, UFC officials haven’t made a formal announcement, and as MMAjunkie reported this past week, Cormier recently said he has no timetable for his return and plans to take a much-needed break.

Jones, who’s back in the gym and currently fulfilling his court-appointed community-service, apparently caught word of Jones’ planned break (via Twitter):

That prompted a response from the champ (via Twitter):

If UFC officials do decide Jones vs. Cormier II is next, they won’t be in any real rush. The organization’s schedule is full with headliners through year’s end. Additionally, the UFC hasn’t even officially reinstated Jones, who was indefinitely suspended in the wake of his arrest.
