Cage Warriors welterweight Danny 'Hot Chocolate' Roberts signs with UFC

The UFC brought “Hot Sauce” into the fold earlier this year. Now it has some “Hot Chocolate.”

On a five-fight winning streak, all for England’s Cage Warriors organization, British welterweight Danny Roberts (11-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has signed a deal with the UFC. Terms were not disclosed, and Roberts’ debut date and opponent have not yet been announced.

UFC officials recently announced the signing.

Roberts, from Liverpool, England, hasn’t lost in nearly four years. Since then, he has rolled through the competition, going 5-0 for Cage Warriors with four stoppages. He has six wins for the promotion overall.

After a submission loss to Pavel Doroftei in December 2011 snapped the perfect 6-0 start to his pro career, “Hot Chocolate” got back on track with a submission of Jack Mason at Cage Warriors 48. Ten months later, he knocked out Diego Gonzalez at Cage Warriors 54, then added a submission win over Henry Fadipe to his resume at Cage Warriors 57.

In 2014, he took a unanimous decision from Juan Manuel Suarez, then knocked out Jim Wallhead in the main event of Cage Warriors 68 in May 2014.

But with Cage Warriors still without an event in approaching a year, Roberts was in need of a place to fight, and becomes the latest Cage Warriors up-and-comer to sign with the UFC. He’ll join the likes of Conor McGregor, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Joseph Duffy, Stevie Ray and Nicolas Dalby as Cage Warriors vets in the UFC.
