UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler and former interim titleholder Carlos Condit will attempt to make their title fight happen for a second time. The matchup has been re-booked for the UFC 195 main event.

FOX Sports 1’s “FOX Sports: Live” announced the 170-pound matchup for the Jan. 2 event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. The main card airs on pay-per-view.

Condit (30-8 MMA, 7-4 UFC) was expected to challenge Lawler (26-10 MMA, 11-4 UFC) in the main event of UFC 193 on Nov. 14 in Melbourne, Australia. Lawler, though, suffered a thumb injury and the contest was scrapped.

UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, who was previously expected to fight at UFC 195, was moved up as the new UFC 193 headliner against Holly Holm.

At 33, Lawler has been fighting professionally for more than 14 years. While he made his UFC debut in 2002, he would go on to compete in promotions around the world with varying degrees of success. However, he returned to the sport’s largest organization in 2013 and has built an incredible 7-1 mark in his past eight fights, including his recent instant classic victory over Rory MacDonald at UFC 189.

Meanwhile, Condit is a former UFC interim welterweight titleholder who came up short in a 2012 bid to unify the titles with then-champ Georges St-Pierre. Most recently, Condit earned an impressive TKO win over fellow veteran Thiago Alves at May’s UFC Fight Night 67 event.
