Six years after their historic Strikeforce title fight, Cristiane Justino and Gina Carano reunited for a photo opportunity.

“Cyborg,” Invicta FC’s reigning featherweight champion, posted the picture (via Instagram) with Carano, who stepped away from the sport following their 2009 bout to pursue a budding Hollywood career.

The two combat-sports vets were in California for Lion Fight 23, a muay Thai event that aired on AXS TV from Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula.

Justino (14-1), of course, won that title fight in dominating fashion while handing Carano (7-1) her first career loss. Justino picked up the inaugural Strikeforce women’s featherweight title with the first-round TKO victory.

The event, which took place on Aug. 15, 2009, in San Jose, aired on Showtime and broke ratings records for the now-defunct promotion. It marked the first time two female fighters headlined a major MMA event.
