Here's a picture of the rib that forced champ Jose Aldo out of UFC 189

Take a look at this picture of Jose Aldo’s rib from a recent exam, and it becomes clearer why the featherweight champion was forced out of UFC 189.

Brazilian MMA reporter Ana Hissa today tweeted the above images. (Check out the rib near the green arrows.)

With Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) recently forced off the card with the rib injury, his original opponent, Conor McGregor (17-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC), now meets replacement Chad Mendes (17-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) for an interim belt at UFC 189, which takes place July 11 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena and airs on pay-per-view.

McGregor recently called for Aldo to be stripped of the title, and many fight fans doubted the legitimacy of the champ’s injury. But based on the evidence above, it’s clear the longtime titleholder was in no shape to fight.
