NEW ORLEANS – Francisco Rivera snapped a losing skid and reminded why he is a danger for anyone in the 135-pound division with a 21-second knockout of Alex Caceres to kick off the UFC Fight Night 68 main card.

The bantamweight bout opened up the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 68 event at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Caceres (10-8 MMA, 5-6 UFC) tried to open up the fight coming forward and throwing a combination, Rivera (11-4 MMA, 4-3 UFC) countered hard with a shot of his own that sent Caceres backward. Moments later, Rivera landed a thudding left hook to the chin of Caceres, knocking him to the canvas. A flurry of punches later, with Caceres covering up under the assault, the referee was forced to stop the bout just moments after it started.

Caceres came into the night on a two-fight losing skid, dropping fights to Urijah Faber and Masanori Kanehara.

Rivera was on his own two-fight losing skid, also dropping a fight to Urijah Faber as well as a loss to Takeya Mizugaki.
