There was a firestorm of criticism over the decision by Mark Hunt’s corner not to stop the fight earlier than the referee, who called a halt to the bout midway through the fifth round, following a beatdown at the fists of Stipe Miocic.

Miocic, however, told Australia’s Submission Radio that he gets it.
“I would never let them throw in the towel,” he said.
Miocic also isn’t prepared to take a step back after his dominant victory made him one of the top contenders for a shot at the heavyweight title after Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum square off in June.
Asked which fellow contender he wanted to fight next, Miocic didn’t want any of them. His focus is unwavering: “Listen, I want a shot a title. That’s all I care about.”
