We here at MMA Hot Sauce have an appreciation for all sports. If we could cover them all, we would, and it would be awesome because then you’d have a one-stop shop for all your fanaticism about televised athletics. But we’re not there (yet) so we’ve been giving you all the MMA you/we can muster.
But in an effort to expand beyond our MMA bubble, we’re going to do something a little different and branch out to other combat sports, starting with kickboxing and Friday’s Glory 19 card at the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va.
In the main event, heavyweight champ Rico Verhoeven held onto his belt by topping Errol Zimmerman by technical knockout in the second round.
In the early stages, both fighters came out swinging. Verhoeven, though, got the better end of the deal and landed more precisely and inflicted damage on his opponent. Zimmerman ate a punch and had canvas for desert, hitting the mat as a result of the blow.
The second round had more of the same. Verhoeven was the aggressor and bullied Zimmerman before the latter fighter suffered a knee injury during a awkwardly placed kick. Shout out to Zombie Prophet for snagging the clip.

The fight ended as a TKO due to injury and, well, that sucks for everyone. Verhoeven showed the class of a champ, though.
Not how you want to see any fight end, but @RicoVerhoeven keeps his belt and shows sportsmanship, congrats to the WORLD CHAMP! #GLORY19

The night also featured a welterweight tournament and crowned Nieky Holzken as the division boss-man with his defeats of Aleksandr Stetcurenko in the semifinal and Raymond Daniels in the final.
Other winners on the night’s card included Joe Schilling — who you might remember sent Melvin Manhoef to lullaby land in Bellator — and Cedric Smith.
