Weeks after the UFC shook up the MMA community with its signing of Phil “CM Punk” Brooks, rival promotion Bellator MMA has landed a notable free agent signing of its own by inking Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson to a deal.

MMAjunkie confirmed the signing overnight. The organization is expected to make a formal announcement during tonight’s Bellator 132 broadcast on Spike TV.

Slice (4-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) has not competed in MMA since May 2010. He then fought several pro boxing bouts, but not since January 2013.

There are no details on the particulars of the fighter’s Bellator debut. However, one thing is a certainty: The name “Kimbo” still stirs a response from fans, fighters and media members.
