For its year-in-review, WSOF will recap the paths that its titleholders took to capture their belts.
“WSOF Unstoppable: Road To The Championship” premieres Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET (11:30 a.m. PT) on NBC. A replay airs on Jan. 3. on NBC Sports Network at 10:30 p.m. ET.
The 90-minute special looks back at the year-plus that was in WSOF with highlights, as well as complete rounds from 16 different WSOF events in 2013-14, including the seven title fights that took place in 2014.
“WSOF Unstoppable” will be hosted by WSOF play-by-play voice Todd Harris, as well as Bas Rutten and Renzo Gracie.
Included in the special will be women’s strawweight champion Jessica Aguilar; bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes; recently crowned featherweight champ Lance Palmer; undefeated lightweight titleholder Justin Gaethje; welterweight kingpin Rousimar Palhares; middleweight champ David Branch; and heavyweight champion Smealinho Rama.
“We are excited to cap off what was a banner year for World Series of Fighting, and appreciate the opportunity that NBC is giving our fans to relive some of the most incredible moments we have seen thus far in our cage,” WSOF President Ray Sefo stated. “‘WSOF Unstoppable: Road To The Championship’ will essentially hone in on the journeys and achievements of our reigning world champions who fought their hearts out to become recognized as the top fighters in their respective divisions.”
The promotion returns on Jan. 17 for WSOF 17 with a welterweight main event between Jake Shields and Brian Foster. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network following prelims on MMAjunkie.
