Georges St-Pierre definitely has a vested interest in next month’s UFC 181 main event.
At the pay-per-view in Las Vegas, welterweight champion Johny Hendricks (16-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC) rematches Robbie Lawler (24-10 MMA, 9-4 UFC), putting his belt on the line for the first time.
St-Pierre defended his title one final time against Hendricks before stepping away from the sport and vacating his title. So he’s interested in seeing a former nemesis in a fight.
But more important still, St-Pierre’s teammate, Rory MacDonald (18-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC), has been promised a crack at the UFC 181 winner.
Will that be Lawler in an upset, setting up a rematch with MacDonald, whom he beat a year ago at UFC 167? Or will it be the champ?
St-Pierre weighed in on who he thinks has the edge at UFC 181, and how he thinks MacDonald will fare when it’s his turn to fight for the title.
