There are experts, and then there are experts.
Urijah Faber knows a thing or two about UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo, having fought him four and a half years ago. And after training with Chad Mendes nearly every day for years, he can speak authoritatively on him, as well.
On Saturday at UFC 179, long-reigning featherweight titleholder Aldo (24-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) rematches with Mendes (16-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) in the main event. The fighters, who are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA featherweight rankings, originally fought at UFC 142, where Aldo picked up a first-round TKO victory.
But Faber believes things will be different this time around. And naturally, “The California Kid” believes his Team Alpha Male stablemate will be the latest UFC champion under his banner come Saturday night.
Hear Faber break down the Aldo-Mendes fight ahead of UFC 179, which takes place at Rio de Janeiro’s Maracanazinho Gymnasium. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
