Gray Maynard has a new opponent for Aug. 16 in Maine. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com
The fight was set to take place Aug. 16 as part of UFC Fight Night “Bader vs. St. Preux” at Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. Gray Maynard, who was slated to face Fabricio Camoes on the same card, will step up to face Pearson in Trujillo’s stead. According to the UFC, Camoes “will be rescheduled for another bout later this year.”
Trujillo was originally paired with Bobby Green for the event, and then matched against Pearson when Green took a short-notice July 26 assignment against Josh Thomson.
Pearson will look to get back in the win column after a highly controversial split-decision loss to Diego Sanchez in June. The 29-year-old Englishman holds a 7-4 record with one no-contest inside the Octagon.
Maynard, 34, has suffered first-round technical knockouts in his last two outings against Nate Diaz and T.J. Grant. “The Bully” recently switched training camps, moving from American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Calif., to Power MMA in Gilbert, Ariz.
