Video (warning: graphic): This poor SOB suffered an Anderson Silva-like leg break

If you can see the screenshot above, you realize that Brazilian fighter Marcos Souza didn’t exactly have the greatest weekend.

The fighter took on fellow light heavyweight Cristian Goetz at Favela Kombat 10, a weekend event in Brazil. It resulted in a horrifying injury.

Like Anderson Silva at UFC 168, Souza (who was even wearing Silva-like yellow trunks) checked a kick, but his right leg snapped from the blow. As he went to put weight on the broken limb, he collapsed to the canvas, and the bout was mercifully waved off.

Favela Kombat officials told MMAFighting.com that “Rino” fractured his right tibia and is scheduled for surgery today. (Here’s to wishing him a speedy recovery.)

Like his Brazilian counterpart, Silva (33-6 MMA, 16-2 UFC) is still recovering a similar injury, though he’s making progress and back in the gym.

Silva, a former and longtime middleweight champion, is expected to make a full recovery from the injury, which came in December as he tried to reclaim the belt from Chris Weidman. Silva is planning to return to the cage in early 2014. Despite some rumblings about “The Spider’s” interest in a potential fight with retired Nick Diaz, the UFC has no definitive plans for his return bout.
