UFC vet Ulysses Gomez joins RFA roster with multi-fight deal

Recent UFC competitor Ulysses Gomez has a new home.

The veteran 125-pounder has signed a multi-fight deal with RFA, the organization announced on Monday.

A debut date hasn’t been set for “Useless,” and terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

Once one of the flyweight division’s top-ranked fighters, the 31-year-old struggled once he signed with the UFC. Gomez (9-4) suffered a knockout loss to John Moraga in his 2012 promotional debut, and in early 2013, he dropped a decision to Phil Harris. The UFC subsequently released him.

A former flyweight and bantamweight champion with the California-based Tachi Palace Fights promotion, Gomez was slated to make his first post-UFC appearance with Cage Warriors debut in December. However, prior to his main event with flyweight champion Neil Seery, Gomez collapsed while cutting weight, and the fight was scrapped. He now looks to officially begin his post-UFC career with one of the sport’s rising promotions.

RFA has quickly become an organization for prospects to get noticed by the UFC – or for UFC vets to regroup while trying to get back to the big show. RFA airs its events on AXS TV.
