Cage Warriors 69 weigh-in results: Lightweight, middleweight title fights official

With massive 60 percent purse penalties on the line for fighters who missed weight, several fighters dodged bullets for Saturday’s Cage Warriors 69.

The weigh-ins are in the books, and several fighters were off the mark on their first attempts, including middleweight title challenger Norman Paraisy.

Two of the five who missed weight on their first tries returned and made good, including Paraisy, which makes him official for his vacant 185-pound title fight against Jack Hermansson. Paraisy was 185.4 pounds on his first try, but came back at 183.2.

In the “Super Saturday” doubleheader’s second title fight, Stevie Ray (154) and Curt Warburton (154.3) each were good on their first tries for their bout for the vacant lightweight title. That fight headlines the second of Cage Warriors’ two main cards.

Three fighters didn’t hit their marks after their first tries, though. Jack Mason was 173.2 on his first attempt. On his second try, he was only able to shed one-tenth of a pound. However, he dodged the 60 percent penalty because he signed his fight agreement prior to the promotion’s policy change in early May. For that reason, he only will be docked 25 percent, which goes to his opponent, Bruno “B.C.” Carvalho (171).

And on the first main card, Jason Cooledge (157.2) and Brad Wheeler (157.6) each came in heavy for their lightweight fight. But they agreed after the fact to a 158-pound catchweight bout.

Cage Warriors 69 takes place Saturday at The Forum in London. The first main card streams in North America on MMAjunkie at 1 p.m. ET and will be followed by the second main card at 4 p.m. ET, also on MMAjunkie. Prelims stream on Cage Warriors’ Facebook page at 11:30 a.m. ET.
