Following NBC reveal, WSOF, IMG announce new broadcast deals in Asia, Europe


Ray Sefo on MMAjunkie.com RadioThe Las Vegas-based World Series of Fighting promotion recently revealed its July 5 event would air on network television in the U.S. Now the promotion has announced additional global expansion, as well.

WSOF officials recently revealed IMG Media has brokered new broadcast deals for the promotion across Southeast Asia on KIX, bill as a “24-hour action entertainment subscription channel,” as well as Sport TV’s Kombat Sport channel.

KIX adds 15 territories to WSOF’s broadcast footprint, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand, according to the release. Meanwhile, WSOF officials announced Kombat Sport can be seen in “French-speaking Europe as well as some African territories.”

“Ever since we partnered with IMG Media last year, we have been extremely happy with the accomplishments we have achieved in international markets,” WSOF President Ray Sefo stated. “We’ve got an incredible brand of MMA and have our sights set on being on television sets in every country around the world. This expansion with KIX and Sport TV is a huge step in that direction, and we look forward to entertaining millions of fans worldwide for years to come.”

WSOF’s next event takes place on June 21 in Las Vegas with “WSOF 10: Branch vs. Taylor” and airs on NBCSN in the U.S. One July 5, the company makes its network-television debut with “WSOF 11: Gaethje vs. Newell” on NBC.

“The new deals in Asia and Europe will create an outstanding opportunity for the WSOF to significantly grow its international audience in regions in which it has otherwise lacked exposure,” IMG Media SVP, Head of Media North America Hillary Mandel stated. “We are delighted to have brokered these deals which will showcase the events and the talented fighters from Asia, to both the die-hard supporters and a new generation of mixed martial arts fans.”
