15 minutes with Chael Sonnen: Wanderlei, Vitor, TRT and hypocrisy

SAO PAULO – Chael Sonnen has a pretty simple explanation for some of the things he’s heard coming from Wanderlei Silva: “Stupid people say stupid things.”

This past Friday, Sonnen spent 15 minutes with MMAjunkie’s John Morgan and Globo’s Ivan Raupp at Sao Paulo’s Ibirapuera Gymnasium, and he revealed he’s done talking about any potential future fight with “The Axe Murderer,” regardless of what ultimately happens with Silva’s professional career.

“I’m good,” Sonnen said. “I don’t want to fight anybody that doesn’t want to fight me. I’m not a bully, and he doesn’t want to fight. I move on.”

Sonnen, of course, was expecting to fight Silva following the conclusion of their stints as coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3.” Injuries delayed the matchup before it was scrapped entirely due to “issues related to Wanderlei Silva’s licensing in the state of Nevada,” according to UFC officials.

Silva has since issued a video statement denying any wrongdoing and claiming there has been a major misunderstanding. Still it appears a sanctioned fight between the two may never happen, despite the famous tussle the two held in the “TUF: Brazil” gym.

“I don’t have enough time in the day to go around correcting all the things that Wanderlei Silva says,” Sonnen said. “Wanderlei Silva proclaimed victory in that fight. Perhaps that’s a new Brazilian scoring system where you get thrown down and beat up and have your buddy jump in. But again, I don’t even know what to do with that guy.”

Watch the video above to hear Sonnen discuss the situation, why he thinks he will likely end up fighting Anthony Johnson, and why now that testosterone replacement therapy is banned, he admits he may have been a bit of a hypocrite when utilizing the procedure.
