The Bellator 117 weigh-ins are in the books, and the two fighters vying for the vacant welterweight title are official for the main event.
Douglas Lima and Rick Hawn came in on target, each under the 170-pound maximum. Lima was 169.8 pounds, while Hawn was 169.7. The two fight for the title after it was vacated by the departure of longtime champion Ben Askren this past year.
Lima comes into the fight unbeaten since he lost to Askren about two years ago in a title fight. He has four straight wins, all by knockout. And Hawn has won four straight, as well. His have all come since losing a lightweight title fight to then-champ Michael Chandler before moving up to welterweight.
Thursday’s festivities took place at Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa. The same venue then hosts Friday’s fight card.
