UFC Champ Johny Hendricks has Successful Biceps Surgery, Hope to Fight by Year’s End

34-Johny-Hendricks-9313-UFC-167-w-a-478x270UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks had successful surgery on his biceps muscle on Monday and plans on returning to training in four to eight weeks, according to a report on Wednesday.

Hendricks’ management spoke with UFC Tonight and confirmed the champ hopes to fight again by the end of 2014.

Ted Ehrhardt, Hendricks’ representative, told the FOX Sports 1 program that his fighter fought Robbie Lawler at UFC 171 with the injured muscle. Even so, Hendricks won a unanimous decision to gain the vacant welterweight title.

Hendricks returning to training within one to two months will be dependent on how the fighter’s body responds to the surgery.

The title fight at UFC 171 was Hendricks’ second straight attempt at the gold, the first being a loss to then-champ Georges St-Pierre at UFC 167 last November.
