DALLAS – Could Jessica Andrade soon be heading to the UFC’s new women’s strawweight division, which launches later this year?
Following a win on Saturday’s FOX Sports 2-televised UFC 171 preliminary card in Dallas, where she scored a split-decision win over Raquel Pennington (4-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC), Andrade (11-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) discussed the possibility of making the move to 115 pounds.
“You never know,” her translator said. “The thing is she has fought most of her career at 125, but now for the UFC, we did a lot of work to make her bigger, stronger, better. For her to drop one weight class after all the work to make her bigger, it would be tough, but you never know what happens tomorrow.”
Check out the full conversation, in which Andrade also discusses a potential rebooking with Julianna Pena and her thoughts on UFC champ Ronda Rousey, above.
