Majority Draw Radio: Interview with Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez and Rousey vs. Carano Rumors

Gilbert Melendez vs. Jorge Masvidal at StrikeforceOn this week’s episode of Majority Draw Radio, hosts Ryan McKinnell and Danny Acosta talk Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano rumors, Chris Weidman defending his belt against Lyoto Machida instead of Vitor Belfort thanks to the recent TRT ban, “Stun Gun” cutting down John Hathaway in China, and ponder what they would name their pro wrestling tag team.

Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez stops by the show to discuss a slew of topics. The current UFC no. 1 contender discusses choosing the UFC as his fighting home over Bellator, challenging Anthony Pettis for the lightweight crown and coaching on The Ultimate Fighter season 20 against him.

“You better believe the Gracie Fighter boys will be there making appearances,” Melendez said of bringing teammates Jake Shields and brothers Nick and Nate Diaz to coach 115-pound female UFC hopefuls.

The stakes for Melendez are higher than they’ve ever been because he believes his fight with Pettis to establish the true king at 155 pounds.

“You better believe he’ll be my enemy when we fight,” he said. “And he’ll be my enemy when it comes to the show. It’s the way I perform, and it’s the way I deliver. I gotta definitely learn to grow that animosity towards him. Will I be able to cage the beast on the TV show; I think so, I think so. But, yeah, when it’s fight time, you better believe I’ll have as much animosity towards him as anyone else I’ve fought before.”
