Yushin Okami now has an opponent for his World Series of Fighting debut, as the former UFC title contender will square off with Bulgarian prospect Svetlozar Savov at WSOF 9.

WSOF officials announced the booking on Tuesday, additionally revealing that Brenson Hansen will battle Boostayre Nefarios on the evening’s undercard, which streams live on Sherdog.com. The March 29 main card airs live on NBC Sports Network from Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, headlined by a welterweight title clash between Steve Carl and Rousimar Palhares.

Okami, 32, saw a three-fight winning streak snapped by Ronaldo Souza last September, as “Jacare” knocked out the Japanese talent in the first round of their UFC Fight Night 28 showdown. “Thunder” began his Octagon career in 2006, unsuccessfully challenging for the UFC middleweight crown in 2011 before departing the organization with a promotional record of 13-5.

Savov will make his North American debut having won three of his last four fights. However, the prospect has not competed since October 2012, when he successfully defended his World Free Fight Challenge title against Serbian talent Bojan Velickovic. That triumph marked Savov’s lone decision win in 12 career victories, with the Bulgarian picking up eight submissions along the way.
