MACAU – Saturday’s fight card for the TUF China Finale is down to eight bouts following today’s loss of a preliminary-card fight.
With Zak Cummings (16-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) expected to come in eight pounds heavy for the fight, his fight with fellow welterweight Alberto Mina (10-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has been canceled, UFC officials confirmed with MMAjunkie.
Mina refused to meet at a 178-pound catchweight.
“It sucks when guys come in and don’t make weight,” UFC President Dana White said in a statement sent to MMAjunkie. “They have one job: to get ready for the fight, train and make weight. That’s definitely a career killer.”
Mina will be paid both his show and his win money, an official said.
The TUF China Finale takes place at The Venetian Macao’s CotaiArena in Macau. The entire event streams on UFC Fight Pass.
Cummings was hoping to build off a UFC-debut “Submission of the Night” victory over Ben Alloway in August. His opponent, Mina, was scheduled to make his promotional debut.
The new TUF China Finale card now includes:
MAIN CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 8 a.m. ET)
PRELIMINARY CARD (UFC Fight Pass, 6:45 a.m. ET)
