Maldonado was unable to continue.
DiSciullo catches Maldonado off-balance with a low kick and briefly
knocks him to the floor. Maldonado recovers and rips a body kick to
his foe’s ribs. Disciullo lands a sliding side kick and then stuffs
a Maldonado shot, driving his foe back and settling in half-guard
before allowing his opponent to stand. Suddenly, Disciullo hurts
Maldonado with a hard left and swarms him against the cage,
cracking him with a sharp right and then bombing him with knees to
the head. However, Maldonado’s hand was on the ground during the
last two strikes, and referee John McCarthy steps in to pause the
action.
Disciullo is apologetic, and the blows are ruled accidental.
Maldonado cannot continue, and the fight will go down as a
no-contest.
The Official Result
The fight is ruled a no-contest at the 1:53 mark of round
one.

An eye poke stopped the action early.
Diekmann pumps out a series of jabs to start the bout, and Lara
rushes in, catching a finger to the eye in the process. “Bam Bam”
shies away and clutches his faces. Diekmann throws his hands up in
disbelief and nearly blasts the Californian with a low kick, but
referee Todd Anderson calls for time. Lara goes face down on the
canvas and begins to groan, telling the doctor that he was poked,
or scraped, in both eyes. Lara cannot continue, and the doctor
waves off the bout. Diekmann is incredulous, and the crowd boos,
but we nevertheless have our second no-contest of the night.
The Official Result
The bout is ruled a no-contest at the 0:18 point of the opening
frame.
Round 1
Referee John McCarthy starts the lightweights, and Quinn begins to
work with inside and outside low kicks. Calandrelli lands a nice
left, but Quinn comes back with a counter right hand and a jab of
his own. Quinn now starts to open up with some hard left hooks,
backing his 39-year-old opponent up against the cage. Calandrelli
circles away and tries to land a counter left hook of his own, but
Quinn possesses the superior hand speed. With 90 seconds left,
Quinn rips and outside low kick and easily defends a takedown
attempt. Calandrelli is bleeding from the nose and eats a right
hand and a jab as the round wanes.

Quinn took the unanimous nod.
The men trade jabs to start round two, and Calandrelli closes the
distance and bulls his opponent against the fence. Quinn shucks him
off and connects with a body kick before eating a solid right-left
combination from his older foe. Undeterred, Quinn continues to move
forward, but he catches another left hook and then a jab. The
American Top Team Connecticut rep responds with a hard left hook,
but Calandrelli fires back with a sharp right hand, cutting Quinn
over his left eye. The men again trade jabs, and Quinn scores with
a low kick and a glancing overhand right.

Round 3
Quinn again takes center cage and rips a body kick to his
opponent’s ribs. It also appears that Quinn was in fact not cut in
the last round, and some of Calandrelli’s blood may have
accumulated over his eye. Quinn is now back to being a full step
ahead of his foe, catching Calandrelli with accurate jabs and
crosses while mixing in a steady stream of low kicks. Quinn plants
another right directly in the face of his stocky foe. Calandrelli
is trying to press the fight with just 90 seconds left and lands a
hard left hook, followed by a power jab. Another nice left hand
lands for Calandrelli with 30 seconds to go, but it might be too
little too late.

knee to the forehead. The Lithuanian pursues his opponent and fakes
a left kick before grabbing a Thai plum and planting a gorgeous
left knee on Djambazov’s chin. The Bulgarian slumps to the canvas

Almeida has two takedown attempts stuffed early but drives Fisher
against the fence. The 24-year-old locks his hands under the Brit’s
hips and scores with a double-leg takedown, but Fisher works back
to his feet. Almeida maintains control of a body lock, however, and
turns it into another takedown. Fisher once again stands, but
Almeida digs in a hook and uses his other leg to push off the cage,
taking Fisher to the canvas and locking up a body triangle in one
beautiful sequence. The Englishman defends the rear-naked choke,
but Almeida maintains back control to end the frame.

Almeida cruised in rounds one and two.
Fisher assumes the role of aggressor to start round two, initiating
the clinch and chopping away with short kicks to Almeida’s calf.
The 24-year-old shoves him away and then drives inside for another
takedown attempt, grabbing a standing rear waist lock. Almeida once
again digs in a hook and pushes off the cage, nearly executing the
exact same maneuver that he pulled off in round one. This time,
Fisher defends the body triangle for a while, but “The Spider”
eventually locks it up with two minutes remaining. Almeida attacks
with short punches, most of which are blocked.
Fisher squirms and tries to roll on top, but Almeida catches him
with an arm-triangle grip as he rolls to his back. Almeida cannot

sprawls and drives a knee into his opponent’s ribs. Now cut over
his left eye, Almeida grabs hold of Fisher and pulls guard before
executing a pretty sweep and transitioning into a brabo choke
attempt. Fisher rolls on top and lands in side control, eventually
forcing his wiry foe to let go of the hold. Fisher pins down
Almeida’s left arm in a topside crucifix and unloads with a flurry
of right hands. Almeida is now bleeding badly from his face. He
manages to free his arm and then defends a north-south choke, but

easily defends. Yamauchi tries to attack with up-kicks and then
roll for a heel hook, but Martinez thwarts the attempt and
